The Alabama Chocolate Festival is April 1 in Rainbow City. This will be the 12th year that Rainbow City leaders have brought entertainment, activities and chocolate to Rainbow Plaza Shopping Center. Here are five good reasons for you to go.
Music: Country music star Collin Raye is the headliner for the event this year, Southern Sound, Exdos, Still Kickin’ and Them Dirty Roses will perform as well. All the music is free. Set your lawn chair and enjoy.
2017 marks 25 years since multi-platinum selling country sensation Collin Raye emerged on the scene with his No. 1 smash “Love, Me.” In celebration of the milestone, SiriusXM’s Prime Country (ch. 58) will air Raye’s “Silver Anniversary Special” five times throughout the weekend beginning March 24. The special is also available on-demand with the SiriusXM Radio app.

In addition to the tracks, Raye shares exclusive stories behind these songs, which have touched the lives of country music fans for the last three decades.

The festival is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. April 1 at Rainbow Plaza, 3225 Rainbow Drive, in Rainbow City.
Raye’s performance starts at 6:30 p.m. Festival and show admission are free.
Raye is a multi-platinum recording artist, known for Billboard Country Chart No. 1 hits “Love, Me,” “In This Life,” “My Kind of Girl” and “I Can Still Feel You,” among other top 10 tunes.
On Wednesday, March 1, Rainbow City officials and Mayor Terry John Calhoun announced the lineup and activities for the 12th Annual Alabama Chocolate Festival. The festival will take place at the Rainbow Plaza in Rainbow City on Saturday, April 1. Admission to the festival is free.
Calhoun commended city employees for volunteering their time to make the Chocolate Festival a success once again.
Once again the Festival will be preceded by the Treasure Chest Hunt. This year the Hunt will be a little different. On March 20, sponsor radio stations WQSB, Mix 102.9 and Power 107.5 will be giving one clue each day. The DJs will give the clue, and listeners must call at a certain time to make a guess. The grand prize is $1,000. The grand prize winner for the treasure hunt will be announced at the festival at 4:30 p.m. on the main stage.
